Terms of service

Effective October 25, 2026

These terms govern orders and accounts on Analog & Ink. By placing an order or creating an account you agree to them.

Who we are

Analog and Ink is an operating name of Fourground Labs Inc.

The service

Analog & Ink digitizes VHS tapes, VHS-C, DVDs, and miniDVDs that you mail to our lab in Canada. After capture, original videos and stills are placed in a private gallery. Hardcover albums and Cloud Vault storage are optional add-ons.

We currently accept and return shipments within Canada. Formats listed as coming soon are not part of the service until we say they are.

Orders and payment

Prices are in Canadian dollars. Payment is collected through Stripe at checkout. A paid order is a request for us to process the media described on that order. We do not currently collect GST/HST.

Large collections may be quoted before payment. A quote is not a contract until you accept it and pay.

Your media

You pack and mail originals at your own cost using your own packaging. You must follow the packing guide we send after payment. Title to the physical tapes and discs stays with you. We return originals to the address on the order after capture, unless you tell us in writing to recycle them.

Aging analog media can fail. We work carefully but we do not guarantee that every tape or disc will capture, or that picture and sound will match a studio master. By sending media you accept that risk, including for irreplaceable recordings.

Tapes and discs that are damaged, incomplete, or not a format we accept may not be converted. That includes mould, broken shells, snapped or tangled tape, unreadable or unfinalized discs, and formats we have not listed as available. We may return those items without a digital file. For an item we cannot convert for those reasons, we can refund the conversion charge minus fees already incurred by Analog & Ink, such as payment processing, handling, and shipping. We are not liable for the missing file or for loss of the recording.

Packing and carrier charges

We send packing instructions after payment based on your order. Shipping estimates cover sending media to us and returning originals. The order base is deducted from that estimate first.

If the carrier charges more because the package is larger or heavier than expected, you authorize Analog & Ink to charge the difference and applicable fees. We may send an invoice and hold the return shipment until it is paid. Inbound postage remains your responsibility.

Your files and albums

Gallery files are kept for 30 days after they are ready, then deleted unless Cloud Vault is active. You are responsible for downloading anything you want to keep. Album orders print from stills you select; extra pages may be billed before we print. Albums ship separately from returned originals.

Accounts

Checkout may create an account for the email on the order. You choose a password through the link we send, or recover access with that email. You must keep login details confidential and use an email you control.

Content and licence

You represent that you have the right to send us the recordings and stills, and to have us copy, enhance, store, and print them for you. You grant us a limited licence to process that content only to provide the service. We do not claim ownership of your home movies or photos.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Analog & Ink is not liable for tapes or discs that cannot be converted because they are damaged, incomplete, or incompatible, or for recordings that fail during capture, except that we can refund the conversion charge for an unconverted item minus fees already incurred. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the affected order. This does not affect rights you cannot waive under consumer-protection law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page applies to new orders placed after it is posted. Questions: hello@analogandink.com.
